Sunday Update’s, yes. From this Sunday on, I will post an update about what I’ve done in the week before. Excuse me if this first post might not be very entertaining, I just decided to do this, so I didn’t pay extra attention to taking pictures – and my life a little more exciting than it is.
It’ll be a mix of pictures and short texts. So, let’s go!
On monday I had to work the evening shift, 15:30 until 23 o’clock. I decided with lunch to finally treat myself with a recipe I’ve found a while ago, so I made this delicious Mexican Hot Dog. As an afternoon treat, I made myself a green smoothie, with spinach, avocado, banana and mango. Delicious! Then I went to work.
Same shift, same dish. Since I’m cooking all my meals for one person, I had some leftovers, so I could enjoy the Mexican Hot Dog another day, yay! Also I received my Herbalife package, with which I was really happy. I almost ran out of shake mix, so the delivery was very welcome. The delivery guy couldn’t find my address, so he called me. When he did find me, he told me that it would be a pleasure to be able to deliver me some more packages in the future. I’m a very happy girl every time I may receive a package, so I told him it was mutual.
Last working day of my workweek of 6 days! Again a shift until 23 o’clock, after which I went home to overindulge in Gossip Girl episodes. I processed the remains of the creme fraiche and nacho chips into a mexican tofu.
Weekend! This is a pretty personal confession, but I think I have a small case of agoraphobia. I don’t like going out of the door alone, I always prefer to go somewhere with someone. At home, normally my mother is one of my most favorite victims, but she is not here. I don’t know lots of people here and because of my flexible schedule, my days off don’t correspond to the spare time other people have, so it does happen that I don’t have people to hang out with. Staying at home starts to bore me and my opinion is that fears are there to be conquered, so I decided to face the fear and challenge myself.
I went to the city center of Lyon. Walking around and enjoying the details of the city did me surprisingly good. Okay, next challenge. Getting a drink – all alone. I don’t know the exact reason, but I don’t like to go into a bar all by myself and have a drink. At the same time, I know it’s not too weird to do it. My best friend Diepak swears by it! And with him, probably a lot of other people. I grabbed myself together and went into a bar, seated myself at a table, and sit there for an hour, enjoying my glass of red wine. I brought my e-reader with me, but just sitting there, watching people and dreaming away with my thoughts enjoyed me enough.
I brought my cappuccino shake mix, and something I really like is adding it into a frappuccino. I craved this, so after the bar I went to Starbucks. I mixed my Herbalife shake in an Espresso Frappuccino and sipped on this while reading the e-reader. It felt pretty comfortable, sitting there, reading! I also bought a cinnamon roll to enjoy at night while watching Gossip Girl.
Before going home, I had my last stop: buying blue cheese for the salad that evening. Then I went home and watched Gossip Girl, ate the cinnamon roll and later a salad made with blue cheese, spinach, olives and a bun. Oh yeah – and I cut my own hair, first time ever! Read about it here .
I met an Icelandic friend for coffee. We went to Pola Café, which appeared to be a very cool place to drink our coffee! It was nicely decorated, lots of wooden cases, pictures on the wall and the best part: a corner couch made out of scaffold wood and LOTS of Polaroid camera’s and (Super) Nintendo and other old game computers! I totally loved it. I had a cappuccino, which they sometimes make with whipped cream.. this time it was homemade whipped cream, yum! Since I didn’t have lunch yet, I got a Croque Monsieur with goat cheese and honey, with a side salad. Right before we left, I paid a quick visit to the toilet. So funny! There was a playtoy polaroid camera, made into the toilet paper holder.
My friend had to leave and I spent another few hours wandering around the city. Bought myself a dress and a top. In the evening I watched Gossip Girl again and enjoyed the same dish as the evening before – the blue cheese salad.
The start of a new work week. But before I went to work, I bought myself a new camera! The Canon Ixus 155. Then I worked from 14:30 till 22 o’clock.
Which is today, nothing special. Only the start of my Sunday Update’s! Please let me know what you think.
