Cycling to work: Day 1

I kicked some ass ! I got on my bike and started the 7 km – mostly uphill – ride to work. I didn’t even cycle all the way. I walked a big part uphill. What, I even stopped at a friends house 2 km from work to ask if she could bring me the last part. And I still think I kicked some ass! Where I could have chosen to take the car and let me get driven, I chose to take the challenge to go by bike.

It was hard – as I said, most of the road is uphill – and I didn’t eat well, I started already dehydrated and my tire wasn’t hard enough. I was almost running late to work and that’s why I asked my friend to help me. I didn’t want to arrive late just because I went by bike.

Still it was a good start, since it was just the first time. Next time I will go a little better and the time after that I will go faster, until it gets easier.

Stats: 7,73 km / 00:43:42 / 10,62 km/h

The ride back home was a whole other story! It was great to let the bike glide all the way down. There were some parts where I had to cycle, but mostly I could just let it ride itself. I enjoyed it so much, just for this reason I really want to be able to cycle to work!
